How it works
Assists in healing by:
Stimulating nerves, increasing blood circulation, relieving muscle spasm
Causes the release of hormones such as endorphins (one of the body's pain control chemicals)
Causes the release of cortisol (a natural steroid)
Opioid like effect.

Acupuncture Effects
AP is considered a form of counter-irritation where the process sets up a
local reaction that results in increased blood flow to the area.
Also increases local immune responsiveness and relaxation of the muscles
and tissue in the area.

Common Uses of Acupuncture
Musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis or vertebral disc pathology.
Skin problems such as lick granuloma.
Respiratory problems such as feline asthma.
Gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea.
Pain control.

Acupuncture and Anatomy
Most acupuncture points have been identified to be one of four basic points
1)    Neural vascular bundles containing free nerve endings
2)    An artery and vein
3)    And numerous mast cells
-    All of these points are located long the nervous system
-    Most represents regions of low electrical resistance and high electrical conductance in the skin over the point
-    Most are found in palpable depressions
